My second graders are able to use applications on the iPad throughout the day to extend their learning in both ELA and math. In order for them to focus and avoid distracting other students, they need headphones. Sadly, the headphones my school can afford break SO easily. I have not been able to find a pair of headphones that will last the whole year. The heads we currently use only have sound on one side or glitch, with the sound turning off and on. I have resorted to letting students use the app without headphones, resulting in constant reminders to turn the iPad volume down. Good quality headphones will allow students to concrete and fully engage on the program they are completing. One big reading program we use to engage students in centers is called Lexia. Sound is required for this program, since it uses fun music and gives verbal instruction. I chose the education headphones from the company Avid for this project. These headphones are highly recommended for schools. Having working headphones will not only allow my students to concrete and complete their work in the program correctly, but it will also promote a quiet and peaceful environment during our work time.
