The mental health during a global pandemic has taken its toll on everyone! We as adults have learned skill to help us cope with emotions that we are feeling, however, some students have not had the opportunity to learn these skills and so it is my job to help them learn those skills! We are seeing more and more behavior problems arise in the school and so creating a safe, and organized classroom will help have a safe space for the students to come and learn! COVID-19 has impacting the social and emotional functioning of all students, but especially those who have disabilities. Some of my students have a disability that makes learning social skills tough to begin with, and they right now need extra love and support. The Little SPOT books will help my students learn about emotions, what they are and how they are manifesting in different people. The SPOT books will also help the students learn social skills that they can use in their classroom with their peers. Collaboration and taking turns is a skill that the games will address. Many of my students don't understand the concept of appropriate turn taking and initiating play which is a valuable skill in life. Other materials such as the white boards, pens, markers, binders and laminators will help make a organize clean and calm classroom for my students. Finally, the fidgets allow for a moment to calm their bodies and get their minds in a place where they are able to continue with their day in a good place.
