My students come from a rural low socioeconomic community where families are more worried about putting food on the table rather than books on their child's shelves. I work with middle school students in math, science, and a reading intervention group. My reading intervention group is made up of the lowest achieving students in math and reading based off our state mandated test. They are struggling readers with little motivation to read and lack the resources of enticing reading material.
