I want my students to see characters that they can relate to! I want them to read books describing struggles they might have or their ancestors might have experienced. I also want my students to see characters that are different than them, who have gone through different life experiences to increase their understanding and empathy for others. The student population at my school often do not have many books at home, which makes our classroom library that much more important! If we do distance learning, I will be able to use these books as read alouds online with my kids. My students and I appreciate any amount you can donate!
