I created this project to provide my students with basic art supplies, so they may be free to create. Art is essential for student growth, providing moments for reflection and self-expression. Materials such as watercolor paper and canvases provide a backdrop on which my students can expand their education while expressing their creativity. Acrylics and watercolor paints are forgiving mediums, allowing students to take risks, make mistakes and learn from them. Drawing and sketching fulfill the most basic of artistic needs, to put a piece of one's self unto the paper, while practicing blending and shading techniques. Purchasing canvas by the roll, in collaboration with the wood shop teacher, allows me to teach my students how to make their own canvases.
