For our project, we want students to realize that reading can transport them to places they have never been before. Our goal is to inspire students with the intrinsic motivation to read outside of the school walls. The grant funding would allow us to provide every child at our elementary with one new book to take home every month. Many of our families are just trying to put food on the table, and do not have the money to purchase books. By sending books home, we will being giving each child the gift of reading. We hope students will increase their reading levels through practice at home, develop a love reading, and most importantly realize that literacy has the ability to change their future and take them anywhere.
