Horace Mann Middle School has a literacy team consisting of teachers from all subject areas. We meet regularly to discuss reading and school-wide initiatives that can improve reading ability as well as foster a life-long love of reading. During the summer months, we were able to purchase a used vending machine to help create enthusiasm and excitement for books. To say it "takes a village" to get this machine up and running is definitely true in this case! This project has been supported by our administration, our operations staff and the teachers in the building. We have all worked to get the vending machine ready for students. Now we are tasked with keeping the machine filled with appropriately leveled books to get in our students' hands. We want all students to have access to books they can take home and keep.
