I work in a low-income school. 1/3 of my students receive special education services. A few more are have ADHD and need to be moving around constantly. I want to put bands on most of their desks to help them with fidgeting and to be able to focus on their work more. Most of my students do not have books at home and are struggling readers. Reading in school is challenging and filled with many tears. I have the Captain Underpants books in my library, and someone is always reading them. My students LOVE to draw. I want to do a unit on The Wild Robot to tie in coding, adaptation and nature, as well as nurture a joy of reading in my students.
