I am requesting two small PonyCycles (Unicorn and Tiger) for our students to develop their gross motor skills. We currently do not have an area to ride tricycles outdoors, but I would love to bring this fun and exciting gross motor activity indoors! Our school is unique where we are fortunate to have a large, shared, common area amongst the Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms. The PonyCycles would be a perfect piece of equipment to utilize this large wide-open flat space… especially on rainy days, which happens very often here in Florida! One of the best things about the PonyCycle is that not only does it make a wonderful toy and provide a way for kids to get around, it is also a great form of exercise. I have seen firsthand how much fun a PonyCycle can be and I know my students will have so much fun riding one while also developing large gross motor skills in a very safe manner. They will use their core stomach muscles and pump their legs up and down (in a squat like motion) to make the PonyCycle propel forward. When children move on their PonyCycle they train a specific group of muscles, meaning that they grow stronger and healthier while having a great time. It’s so neat to see a PonyCycle in action. I hope my students can have the opportunity to experience this “magic” and get their “Giddy Upping!” on!
