Too often in education we forget that our littlest learners can't sit at a typical desk like our older learners. Our littlest learners need movement and flexibility to succeed in the classroom. These portable lap trays will allow these scholars to learn and work from various locations in the classroom. As educators, we conduct so much of our learning from a board in the front of the room. For the littlest learners it is incredibly difficult for them to focus and see the board from their desk. Sitting at these desks for an extended period of time is also difficult for these learners who require movement in the classroom to succeed. Lap desks will provide my students a sturdy tool to do their independent work while sitting on the rug near the board where they can focus and have the flexibility their little bodies and minds require. Allowing learners to have these flexible options and make decisions about where they focus and learn best empowers scholars. It allows even our littlest learners to be accountable for their own learning.
