The selection of books I am requesting is for 7th and 8th-grade students. Literacy skills can be challenging for children at our school that does not have the funds or the influence to enjoy at home. These books will inspire my students to read more and build literacy skills. These books will help students while they are in the process of understanding and applying what text evidence is, how to comprehend information, and expanding their vocabulary and writing skills. Having specific genres and storylines in the classroom that is readily at their fingertips, allows students to enjoy the process of reading. Making those connections is imperative, and the most influential approach is through reading what they love.
