When the students participate in the First Tee curriculum they will be introduced to nine core values (honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgement). These core values will be incorporated within the lessons and this will assist with building the students’ confidence as they learn the rules for the game of golf. The First Tee does not only provide golf equipment, but they also provide a curriculum that teaches a range of valuable life and leadership lessons. The equipment utilized is modified, developmentally-appropriate golf equipment consisting of over-sized clubs, tennis-style balls, and a variety of targets. The clubs are replicas of two basic traditional golf clubs, a putter and a wedge. The equipment is intentionally designed to promote fun and challenge, leading to learning and increased success.
