This recently published adaptation of "To Kill a Mockingbird" will help students with reading deficiencies access a complex and classic text. This text is found in middle school classrooms throughout the country and, love it or hate it, is a part of the fabric of the American education system. Yet "To Kill a Mockingbird" is an extremely challenging read for many 8th graders. The novel is packed with rich vocabulary words, references to early 20th-century Southern living and antiquated dialogue. This newly published and beautifully illustrated graphic novel will help all students dive in to a canonical text. The illustrations support students in grasping essential plot points without having to grapple with difficult language. With your help, all students will be able to participate in rich conversations about gender, race and growing up in American society.
