Our school doesn't have a library so I've worked hard to fill our classroom library with a variety of books. One thing my students could benefit from is seeing books with characters who share their cultures. It's so important for them to see themselves represented in literature! My class this year LOVES to read! They soak up any new books they see and love to listen to read alouds. These new books, such as Joseph's Big Ride and Four Feet, Two Sandals, will help them connect with the books they read. Seeing that their experiences are worth writing about will also allow my students to see themselves as writers.
