I have carefully picked out book collections that I feel are essential to the modern-day middle school classroom. The Classics Collection will connect my students to the traditional literature canon, while the Graphic Novel Set provides for a different type of reading experience as well as a unique option. I also added Jennifer Serravallo's Reading Strategies guidebook to help give me ideas and suggestions for reaching all of my readers' needs. My class has a great range of need and would benefit from having as many varied texts and comprehensive strategies and resources available. My students need and deserve high-interest, relevant reading material that will help them grow as readers and learners. These books will help elevate my classroom library and provide me with ideas on how to better structure whole-class reading, independent reading, and small guided-reading groups.
