We can do so much with a sensory table. The children can use it as a literacy center- searching for sight words, matching letters, re-telling stories. They can learn math and science concepts such as measurment, conservation, and counting. The interactions at a sensory table require cooperation, sharing, turn-taking, and provide hands-on, exciting, and memorable learning experiences. Our class truly loves playing with sand, water, and water beads in our sensory table. It's likely their favorite center in our classroom and they ask to use it as soon as they enter the classroom each morning. Sadly, our current sensory table developed a large crack in it and no longer holds water, and loses sand out the bottom as well.
