I teach Math, Science and Social Studies in a departmentalized setting. My classroom is about staying on task, taking care of the environment and preparing for the future. In preparation for this it requires dedication and perseverance. Manipulatives are the key in helping students to create, organize, record and communicate mathematical and scientific ideas. I want to give my students the opportunity to be more successful. A lot of times I'm making things or purchasing items to enhance the learning. The Math Instant learning center, Game and Math manipulative libraries will assist me in making more time for my students. Using the Science exploration books will be a great addition to our Science library and my strike the imagination lessons. When using manipulatives students develop more positive math deposition and take ownership in their own learning, while creating a bridge to concrete and abstract learning. I was a Montessori teacher for 8 years and I loved it. I have since moved on and see the impact that using hands on materials can assist my students. Using the manipulative's will also support students with engagement and differentiation. Giving my students ownership of their learning would be an amazing experience for them and myself. Seeing any student grow and have a love for learning would make any teacher enthusiastic about educating young minds.
