I have 7-10 students per class who are working below grade level or have special needs such as dyslexia or other learning disabilities. They are working in a regular classroom. If they have a device I am able to use that technology to have directions on individual work read to them aloud. Difficult texts in history or ELA can be read aloud and they can stop and start the lesson at their own pace, or go back to things they don't understand. Headphones allow privacy so that other students are not disturbed and do not know what level or pace kids are working within. Students often submit work online, and many students do not have access to technology at home. I can put specific extensions on Chromebooks that will allow them to be supported if they struggle with various elements of the assignments. They are so proud when they are able to work independently the same as the other students who are working at grade level.
