I recently began using flexible seating with some of my own items, and my students really responded positively to it. My kindergarten class is very structured and academically rigorous. Even so, my students deserve to be comfortable and in a learning environment where they will thrive! Four, five, and six year olds learn best in alternative ways, so it only makes sense that they should be offered alternative seating such as bean bags and yoga ball seats. The new seating options will be exciting to the students, and they will show that they can meet my behavior expectations and still learn even if they are sitting in something other than a chair. I am confident that having these alternative seating options will positively impact my kids!
