Teaching 9 and 10 year olds, they are often all over the place. They struggle to stay in their chairs and at their desks. They want the chance to roam around the room and get lost in their learning. When you enter my classroom you rarely see them sitting in their desks. They want the freedom to move. By funding this project, you will help my students be comfortable. Learning happens best when students are comfortable and feeling safe. I mean, who doesn’t feel safe when they are cozied up in a beanbag chair or on a fluffy rug?? Also, I hope to receive fluorescent light filters and lamps. Having several students with learning disabilities and emotional disabilities, fluorescent lights often cause negative effects and headaches among these students. By filtering the lights and adding more lamps, students will be at ease so they can concentrate on the learning tasks that they are faced with. Overall, these flexible seating options will help my students become successful and comfortable during the learning process.
