Students who are learning English often find themselves at a disadvantage in my English classroom. Students struggle to work at the same pace as others without losing the chance to be part of the conversations. In addition, the ability to work independently is fundamental in terms of metacognition, confidence, and engagement.. Internet translators are often incorrect and require a computer, not always available, for access. By the time we have moved on to another part of the lesson, the students are still struggling with online translators. Plus, using a computer when other students are not, sets them apart as different and can make them feel selfconcious. They deserve the same access to quality instruction without the worry of a language barrier. A quick and inconspicuous digital translator with instant translation will help them build confidence and reach academic excellence.
