My class is needy. They are all from a poor area of Minnesota and come to school with next to nothing. Many of the children come from broken homes, and when I ask them what they have at home all I get is blank stares. Even something as trivial as a book are items my students know nothing about. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch, and funding for our school seems to get less each year. This is my first year at my school, budget cuts last year meant that my previous school got closed. Being new to this school has meant I have to start with almost nothing.I have no technology in my room, with the exception of my laptop that I bring in on a daily basis. My students learn best when they can see examples given to them. I would love to utilize my computer by projecting what I want to show them, rather than walk around and so each student one by one. I am doing everything I can to try and make sure the kids I teach have something to help them learn for the school year.
