The materials will support rural students in learning more about renewable energy sources that are readily available in the community and region. The students will be encouraged to discover the scientific concepts of aerodynamics, electrical engineering, construction of generators, and basics of solar energy. The materials will allow the students to compete in the online Kid Wind Challenge and apply knowledge to local construction of wind turbines in rural southeast Montana. Without the materials the students are unable to compete in the online Kid Wind Challenge due to budget constraints and unavailability of resources for the challenge. The materials purchased are sustainable and will be used to educate future students in the science classroom about renewable energy resources available within the community.
