By bringing technology into the classroom, my students will be able to cross the Delaware with Washington and arrive on Ellis Island with the immigrants. The future of the classroom is digital, and this introduction of technology will help students to explore concepts in new ways. Through interactive learning modules and activities, students can examine concepts from new angles in order to better understand them. They can be transported into their history book and immerse themselves in it at the click of a button. For example, a previous lesson of mine had required my students to make a mock newspaper describing the events of the Civil War. Currently, there is a computer cart that cycles around to different classes each day. My students planned out everything that they were going to write, but were unable to complete a professional, printed version of the project until it was my classroom's turn to use the computers. Had there been computers available, we would not have had to delay this assignment. I believe that this project will kindle a love for history in the hearts of my students and give them an appreciation for the triumph and turmoil that gave birth to this nation.
