Extra noises can create unwanted chaos within a classroom environment. The student chairs are heavy and challenging for students to lift as they push their chairs in after leaving their seats. It’s important that the chairs be pushed under each table or desk because otherwise there is a safety concern when chairs are blocking pathways. Simple solutions like adding tennis balls to the feet of chairs help reduce the sensory discomforts caused by the chairs rubbing against the tile floor. We are also a second floor classroom, and the bare chair feet cause noise for our downstairs neighbors. Having quieter chairs creates a more comforting classroom environment.
