As teachers, we are told to differentiate based on student need. One significant way to do that is finding a special book that speaks to each individual student. It’s so important to have a diverse, current classroom library that appeals to all students of all backgrounds and reading levels. I love having a student come in on a Monday and tell me they enjoyed a book I gave them, and I hate when they ask for the sequel and I don’t have it because I couldn’t afford to bu any more books. I can honestly say, the more books I have in my library, and the wider range I am able to offer, the more kids I can reach through literature. I hope everyone can remember at least one special book that has a special place in their heart. That is what I aim to offer my students with my classroom library.
