I teach a senior economics course. One of the biggest challenges that I see in the classroom is students not wanting to speak up during class room discussions for fear of answering the wrong question. This leads to them not knowing the information and not willing to seek the right answer. The purpose for this project is to provide students with the opportunity to anonymously check for understanding and contribute via the I-clicker system. Unlike Kahoot or things of that nature, students can participate in classroom questioning regardless without disclosing who they are or if an answer is wrong. Also, this will provide them with early usage of a system implemented in large lecture classes at the collegiate level. The iPad will be utilized as a resource for the students. As a school, we have adopted the Schoology platform, similar to blackboard, where we place information in an effort to flip the classroom. Often times, for some reason students do not have a device to work with during those times. We do not have computers in my classroom, so the iPad will serve as an instrument for those student in the absence of their own devices.
