To help my students learn in a hands on way I am creating a coffee shop at my school. My scholars learn best when given hands on experiences. This will create many learning opportunities in multiple academic areas and social skill areas. This Coffee Shop will give my students real world experiences related to social skills, team work, communication and so much more. They will learn customer service social skills when communicating with customers. They will learn how to count back change out of a cash box. My scholars will learn how to work as a team when given different jobs with a common goal. Items that I need to make this project be successful and authentic are the most important. The Coffee Commercial Polished Urns will give my students the opportunity to have 2 choices of coffee to choose from. This will create an opportunity to learn customer service by asking which kind of coffee they would like. This is also why I have added 2 types of Caribou coffee to provide more opportunity for communicating with customers. In addition to coffee I have added tea as an option to my scholars customers using kcups from Two Rivers Assorted Tea Sampler. My scholars will also have a breakfast item of the day to serve and sell. Since there are food items we need to have plates, spoons, forks and napkins. I will use Gloves and aprons to teach my students hygiene to my scholars. My scholars will be in charge of creating advertisement of their coffee shop and the menu for the week as well. Over all this will create an authentic learning experience that will impact my scholars for many years to come.
