Social emotional learning is a very important part of the daily curriculum for students. My job is to provide them with instruction and practice in self-regulation techniques in order to support them in successfully managing their energy levels and emotions throughout the day. By having rainbow exercise mats available, students will have a safe and durable area to complete activities and exercises for self-regulation. The visual colors of the mats will provide natural boundaries for students to stay in their own individual spaces during activities. The exercise mats can be easily cleaned and stored between uses. Activities that the mats will be used for include yoga, sensory strategies, creating quiet spaces, aerobics and obstacle courses!
