As we begin our second year of the French Immersion (DLI) program at our middle school, I think about the books I read in 6th and 7th grade, and how they helped me to form a love of reading and writing. Of course, I read books in English. My students have the most amazing opportunity to fall in love with reading in two languages, English and French. We will use our classroom library to enrich our minds, passions, and literacy skills. What is incredible about literacy, is that it is transferrable. When you improve in English, all of your other languages improve as well. When my students improve in French, their English skills increase considerably. Please consider helping my students in their journey to fluency, literacy, and love of reading.
