These exceptional students need to be prepared to enter the workforce in whatever capacity their abilities will allow. The pre-vocational work boxes will give me another avenue to teach these skills and add a new type of work task that mimics what they may experience in a sheltered workshop or other work environment. These task boxes will allow for independent work as well as specific teaching experiences for individual students. These tasks will also give a feeling of accomplishment as the students finish what they have been assigned. These task boxes build in difficulty meaning that the student can start off at the easiest level of the task and then graduate to harder and harder aspects of the related "job." As teachers of these students, we have already made many of these types of tasks for use in our room, however, I am very excited to be able to integrate these new work skills into the daily routine for our very special students.
