Receiving these books would make such a huge difference not only in the classroom but for my students. When it comes time to do independent reading, students are not excited because they say how there aren't many books to choose from or they aren't interesting because they are out-dated. Some of my students don't even have books at home and as their teacher, it really saddens me because they do love to read but we are missing on those resources that will motivate them and enjoy independent reading time. All these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I've watched them read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what kind of books they would enjoy reading.
Students will be able to choose books, which will help them also as readers and help them read at their own grade level. The best way and most effective way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students stronger in reading. Just thinking about their excitement when they see new books warms my heart with joy. I want to be able to give my students the opportunity to dream with their eyes open and get a taste of magic in their own hands. This project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
