Ninety percent of the students in my class (currently 30 students in a co-teach class) qualify for free lunch even with their parents working full time. This means that there is very little money for students to be able to purchase books and not many are able to visit the public library. My class loves to read and many students will read 3 or more books per day (when their classwork is finished of course). Many ask to borrow classroom library books to have something to read at home.
