Reading is an essential part in everyone's life, whether it is reading Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat or reading a Texas Bar Exam book in college. When a student is able to touch each word of the text, use a pencil to circle words they might not understand and sketch out the details of a story, fluency is just a step or so away. Some students with dyslexia are visual learners and having a color printer would allow them to see details of a story they might otherwise only see in black and white. Being able to see the details in vivid color could help my students make connections to the text and help build their comprehension. My students have limited access to print materials outside of school and I want them to have the necessary tools readily available to ensure the are afforded the same academic opportunities as student with resources.
