Giving my non-verbal students iPads will enable them to have a voice. The iPads will help build independence in communicating with their peers, facilitate project-based learning, build self-advocacy skills and enhance their creativity. My students often feel different than their typical peers due to the inability to speak and inability to regulate their emotions. Giving a voice to the voiceless is a gift that keeps on giving. The iPads will open doors to a whole new way of learning. My students will experience first hand how it feels to be able to ask a peer a question and have that peer respond.
