My students LOVED The Giver, but we spent a great deal of time repairing their paperback copies of the book on a nearly daily basis. All of our copies have broken bindings and loose pages. For students who already hate to read, this is disheartening. I have found a book that hooks my students almost without exception and I want to give them better quality copies to encourage their reading. It will also save time for actually reading and studying this book rather than book repair. Our district does not have the money to replace the books at this time.
