6th Grade Middle School Science and Engineering Practices Mastery In the fall of 2018, the AZ Department of Education, working with the ASTA have adopted new AZ Science Standards.These materials will assist our core Science teachers, with curriculum development. They will also enhance the Hands-on requirements of the new AzSS, based on the NGSS, where Science Design and Engineering practices, including modeling are the focus. These New standards also use Cross Cutting concepts and Disciplinary Core, (Big) Ideas, to help students better understand phenomena. Our goal is with implementation of these new practices, we will help students move beyond just, "Knowing about Science", by digging deeper, to making sense of the world around them. New field testing implementation will begin this 2019-2020 school year. The materials selected will assist teachers in this transition, as well as with implementation of the new standards and the creation of assessments.
