These students like to learn new skills, but due to their special needs are often limited in the mobility and coordination required to manipulate standard computer equipment such as a mouse or keyboard. Touch screens, especially smaller ones such as the ones on iPads greatly help by giving the students the ability to interact with technology. The iPads also take up less space giving me the ability to work with multiple students at a time and still see what they are working on. Good communication skills are the gateway to learning. These iPads will give my students who have speech deficits the ability to communicate using Apps such as LAMP words for life, essentially opening a whole new world of learning.
