In my classroom students are encouraged to get up and comfortable, whatever that may look like. Some students choose to stay at their desks during work time, some students choose to find a comfy spot on the carpet. The trouble is, that is about the extent of our options currently in my classroom. With your support and funding of this project, you will be giving my students the opportunity to choose other seating options while they are working. We are requesting seats like the K'Motion Stool and the Relax N' Read Bean Bag chairs which will increase student engagement during classroom time, consequently increasing student success in all subjects throughout the day. Students spend way too much time sitting and listening and learning, and need some wiggle room, or some space to focus on their work. By giving my students options, they are able to spread out and focus on the task at hand. Flexible seating also adds a warmth to the classroom, which so many of my students need! They can choose to cuddle up on the floor with the bean bags, or wiggle around in a small group setting at the back table. These seating options will encourage students to pick what is best for them to be successful, making a change in their outlook on school and have a positive impact on their future successes!
