Having flexible seating will provide students with an opportunity to choose options that work best for them to enhance their learning. Throughout a child's day there are not many times when they get to decide what they would like to do or how they want to complete tasks. Allowing students to choose their seating not only gives them empowerment but allows them to think about what works best for them and can help keep them engaged on their learning. It can also provide them with ways to get their wiggles out, which they have a lot of in second grade! 95% of a child's day is spent focusing and working on tasks! Kids need to move constantly and it is proven that movement helps them retain information.Providing them with wobble chairs and wobble cushions could allow them to stay focused, provide them choice and stay motivated to learn. I have not used any flexible seating yet, but have read and heard about how these seating options make a big impact on learning in the classroom! I am very excited and hopeful to provide my students this exciting opportunity!
