To create lifelong readers, we must spark a joy of reading in our students. Part of sparking that joy includes having highly engaging, diverse material and allowing students free choice. As a librarian in a large, urban school district, I routinely work with students who do not have access to reading materials outside of the school environment. Books are all too often a luxury. My goal with this project is to continue to grow my library collection, giving my students direct, daily access to rich reading materials that will foster a culture and habit of reading. This collection will go a long way towards augmenting my growing graphic novel collection as well as providing copies of novels that currently have a very high demand. Help me in creating life long readers and life long learners.
