Most people know that virtual reality (VR) is here to stay in our gaming and video world. You may not know that it has huge potential in our classrooms! Two years ago I got to see how Google Expeditions and Google Cardboard can transport my students to the awesome sites of Latin America and Spain such as Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, and the Alhambra. Google Expeditions allows me as the teacher to teach language in the context of traveling to these incredible places. We get to view these sites in a virtual, 3D world as if we were actually there! The possibilities are endless and the only thing keeping us from taking advantage of these visits to these historical sites is the technology - Google Cardboard. They are sturdy, easy to use, and work with any phone device (which my students already have!)
