Teaching a day treatment classroom, my students often come to me with a low self-efficacy in regards to their abilities to read. Most of them do not like to read and feel that they are not good at reading. I have selected books that will add diversity and options to my classroom library that will be of interest to my students to help build their love for reading. Struggling readers will often choose books that are below their reading level because they know that it will be easy for them to read. With these books, I will be able to have texts in my classroom library that are fun to read and challenge my students to grow. I will use these books during read aloud times, book studies, and homework assignments to teach my students about diversity, history, and the components of literature.
