This year we are a classroom of 21 curious, kind, and silly second graders. About half the class are bilingual - or on their way to being! Some students come from families that have many resources. Whereas, other students are from economically challenged families that are working mulitple jobs, and struggling with transportaion, child care, and meeting the weekly grocery bill. In our classroom, we love Math. We build numbers with cubes, counters, and other math tools. This helps us understand numbers and be able to explain how we get our answers. We love to read and write as well. Our classroom library has books from K to 4th grade to meet all of our learning abilities. We love fiction and nonfiction. We bring books home to read, so sometimes books are lost from the classroom. But it's worth it if we are reading nightly! We play board games and imaginary play during indoor recess. We can play nicely together!
