About my class

Our Title I School is wanting to provide our scholars with some school guitars so that they can participate in the Mariachi Band. Our students come from low-income families and have very limited access to any type of extracurricular activities and sports. Many have siblings in other grade levels which makes buying or renting any instrument a challenge. I'm excited to see the look on their faces when they find out they will have their own guitar they can use after school and performances, instead of missing out because there aren't enough guitars for everyone to play. There's a sense of pride in having ownership of something & these scholars definitely deserve the opportunity to experience that feeling to the fullest! We want our scholars to feel proud of their culture and use the fine arts to be able to express themselves as they work on their social skills in a positive setting.
