It is my goal to build each child's reading interest, stamina, and agency throughout their day. Having a wide selection of independent, choice reading books is key to accomplishing this goal. In the last year I have filled my three small bookshelves with titles that I thought my students would be interested in based on top-selling lists. However, now that I have students in my classroom, they are telling me which titles they like, which they don't like, and what they feel my classroom library is missing. By donating to this project, you will be enabling my students to read the book titles and genres that they are asking for. Many high school students feel they have little control over what classes they take, where they sit, and what topics they are learning about. By contributing to this project, you will be directly responding to student requests regarding what they want to read.
