Many of our students desperately need to learn ways to appropriately communicate their feelings and help self-regulate. I believe that learning social/emotional skills is just as important as academic learning, if not more! It is essential that our students, who come from a variety of different family backgrounds/situations, learn how to effectively communicate with peers and families. I would use the social skills books while working with students individually, in small groups, as well as during classroom lessons. In my position, I work with all grade levels, so it is important to use common language with them year to year to help improve understanding. I also work with varying levels of learners, so the iPad will help aid all types of learners that I work with on a daily basis, using apps when I work with individual and groups of students working on improving social skills and emotional regulation.
