This is my first year diving into flexible seating. Many of my coworkers who teach ELA have used this in their rooms and they rave about it. I have always been a bit hesitant to try it in my room but I would love to give it a shot! Since this seating is used in classes that my students also travel to, by keeping it consistent in my classroom, I feel the transition for the students will be easier. I have added items like floor seats to let my students be mobile in the room and comfortable. I have added wobble cushions for my students who need some movement when sitting in their desks. Along with flexible seating options I listed above, I added headphones. The curriculum we currently use requires headphones for the individualized portion students use on their chromebooks. In order for this to be really effective, students need these headphones. Unfortunately, many students do not bring them in or can not replace them if they break. By having a class set, I will always be able to make sure my kids have what they need to be successful learners.
