Electricity is often a difficult topic for students to learn because of how abstract it is. Students struggle with what voltage, current, and resistance are as well as how each of those are affected in a series and parallel circuit. This project will enable the students to make a flashlight out of LED lights, batteries, resistors, and breadboards. With these soldering irons, my students will be able to take the paper/pencil concepts of circuits and practice soldering real circuits. Making LED flashlights will help to reinforce all the concepts listed above by providing a hands on activity, a product the student can take home with them, and practice of some of the integral math involved in circuits.
