Donating to our project will help my students have a place where they will have an opportunity to de-escalate and learn strategies to help them when they face difficult situations. • Liquid Timers which help improve visual tracking skills. The descending bubbles and the mix of two soft-colored bubbles have a soothing and mesmerizing effect. • Studies show that visual input is slow and rhythmic has a very calming effect and helps kids with sensory or hyperactivity issues calm down and remain focused for longer periods of time. • Fidget toys are often used to provide sensory input in a less distracting way. They can help improve concentration and attention to tasks by allowing the brain to filter out the extra sensory information. • A weighted blanket provides pressure and sensory input for students with autism and other disorders. A weighted blanket can be used as a calming tool. The pressure of the blanket provides proprioceptive input to the brain and releases a hormone called serotonin which is a calming chemical in the body.
